- Down to the Wire on AACP Institute Registration – Faculty Recruitment and Retention! [5/5/08]
Don’t wait another day to get your team registered for the May or June Institutes devoted to the top priority of recruiting, retaining and developing a highly qualified faculty. Both hotels (Virginia and Arizona) have extended registration through noon on May 12th so there is a little more time to find the right group to unpack the issues of faculty development that are so key to retaining our best and brightest. This Institute is perfect for department chairs and those with related HR responsibilities.
Consistently, attendees have commented that the AACP Institute allows their returning teams to have a clearer understanding of the issues discussed and equally important a greater respect for their team colleagues that have attended, as they typically do not have this amount of uninterrupted time on campus for such intense and productive interactions. Numerous Sessions will be lead by quality speakers and facilitators:
Keynote: Minding the Three R’s in Academic Pharmacy
JoLaine Draugalis, PhD (Dean, College of Pharmacy University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center)
Plenary: Faculty Matters - From Data to Action
Cathy Trower, PhD and Kiernan R. Mathews, EdM (Harvard University, Graduate School of Education)
Concurrent Session: Multigenerational Challenges in Academic Health Centers
Lydia Pleotis Howell, MD (Vice Chair and Director, Anatomic Pathology Professor of Pathology University of California Davis, School of Medicine) will discuss how academic health centers (AHCs) are among the most multi-generational of workplaces and that effective multi-generational teams are essential to accomplishing the missions of AHCs and their respective medical schools and health science programs. Attention to work-life balance, team-oriented work environments, and use of multiple faculty tracks are all important to attract and retain younger generations of faculty.
