A Bold New World
2008 AACP Annual Meeting and Seminars

For more than 100 years, the AACP Annual Meeting has provided an opportunity for pharmacy faculty, staff and students from around the country to come together for the purposes of enrichment, professional growth and development.

AACP represents more than 100 colleges and schools of pharmacy. Last year, more than 1,400 people attended the Annual Meeting, making 2007 the third consecutive year with an astounding 11 percent increase in meeting attendance. The 2008 meeting attendance is not only expected to increase but shatter last year’s attendance record!

With nearly double the exhibitor space that was available last year and the most innovative sessions ever offered at an AACP/AFPC Annual Meeting, 2008 is shaping up to be a banner year. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC), AACP’s Canadian counterpart. AFPC brings to the event record numbers of pharmacy faculty and staff, increasing the international impact of this remarkable meeting.

AACP and AFPC are energized about the opportunity to prepare our next generation of pharmacy educators. Join us in Chicago for all of the incredible opportunities for growth and development as pharmacy academia embarks into a Bold New World!

Teachers' Seminar: Triangulating Teaching Evaluations

As teachers, we strive to do the best by our students. However, faculty are often challenged to find valid information upon which to evaluate our teaching. The 2008 Teachers Seminar, Triangulating Teaching Evaluations, will help pharmacy faculty explore the many sources of information that can be used to evaluate teaching in the classroom, practice site and laboratory, including student, peer and self evaluations.

The keynote speaker for this year’s Teachers Seminar is Douglas Eder, Ph.D., Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, University of North Florida. Breakout session leaders include:

  • Janet K. Astle, B.S., Assistant Director of Experiential Education, Duquesne University, Mylan School of Pharmacy
  • Melissa S. Medina, Ed.D., Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Dean for Assessment, The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy
  • Patrick J. Davis, Ph.D., Professor and Associate Dean, The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy
  • Jenny A. Van Amburgh, Pharm.D., Associate Professor, and Margarita V. DiVall, Pharm.D., Associate Professor, Northeastern University Bouvé College of Health Sciences School of Pharmacy

Leadership Seminar: Philanthropic Practices That Contribute to Successful Fundraising

Development training—like fundraising—isn’t just for development professionals. Academic leaders, deans, faculty, support staff, medical professionals and volunteers all play critical roles in successful resource development.

Creative teaching methods coupled with a research-based approach result in a dynamic workshop that is comprehensive, energizing and most important, is immediately applicable to reach new levels of success in your development efforts. Hear Joe K. Golding, Chairman and CEO of Advancement Resources, LLC, lead a stimulating discussion on resource development at the 2008 Leadership Pre-session.
