Webinar Description: The 2016 ACPE Standards mandate that pharmacy curricula prepare all students to provide patient-centered care as a contributing member of an interprofessional team (Standard 11). Interprofessional team dynamics, education, and practice should be introduced, reinforced, and practiced in IPPE, and competency should be demonstrated in APPE practice settings. This session will highlight general approaches to assessment of IPE in pharmacy practice experiences. Additionally, assessment modalities from two schools of pharmacy will be discussed, including integration of common items across schools on summative end-of-practice experience evaluations and use of the validated quantitative ICAR (Interprofessional Collaborator Assessment Rubric) tool.

Now that national competencies for interprofessional education (IPE) and collaboration (IPC) have been adopted and accrediting bodies are requiring their implementation, all health professions schools are integrating IPE into their curricula. IPE is a natural fit for experiential education for it is only through face-to-face interaction with other health professions that our students learn to work with them effectively. Please join us for our next webinar that presents a collection of ways 4 schools are implementing IPE using a mixture of experiences, simulations, and projects that provide the opportunity for pharmacy students to learn with, from, and about other health professions.
We will hear about how West Virginia University School of Pharmacy is approaching IPE throughout their curriculum, and measuring actual patient health outcomes in their "My First Patient" program. From the University of Missouri Kansas City we will learn about moving outside of the classroom with IPE focused on quality improvement. Auburn University will share how you can begin implementing IPE by reaching out first to one other profession and integrating them into your existing coursework (bottom up approach). And, we will hear from Western University about a top-down, university-wide approach to implementing IPE across the curriculum as well as a way to be intentional about teaching IPC in APPEs. We will conclude the webinar with Q/A and discussion from our panel of speakers.

Objectives:In general, two approaches can be taken in measuring programmatic effectiveness: 1.) assessment of educational outcomes and 2.) measurement of administrative efficiency. We will be discussing how to measure the progress your program is making toward goals and the value it is providing.
We will learn how Auburn uses a systematic course review to assess experiential education(rotations) as well as hear recent efforts by the Southern Pharmacy Experiential Education Consortium (SPEEC) to measure an important administrative process, practice experience placement changes.
We will conclude the webinar with a panel of speakers sharing how they are assessing educational outcomes and measuring programmatic effectiveness in their experiential programs.
