Following the release of the 2006-2007 Educating Clinical Scientists Task Force report (AJPE, 2007;71 Supplement:S05) a number of colleges and schools of pharmacy have begun new or have modified existing graduate programs to educate and train clinical/translational scientists. Others have joined with their Academic Health Center’s clinical scientist educational efforts funded by an institutional Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA).
To assist those college and schools of pharmacy that are planning such programs, a number of pharmacy academicians agreed it was time to convene a summit to discuss the present and future development of graduate programs in experimental pharmacotherapeutics and related clinical/translational sciences.
The Graduate Education/Training in Experimental Pharmacotherapeutics Summit was held Nov. 8, 2009 at the University of Southern California.
