Following the release of the 2006-2007 Educating Clinical Scientists Task Force report (AJPE, 2007;71 Supplement:S05) a number of colleges and schools of pharmacy have begun new or have modified existing graduate programs to educate and train clinical/translational scientists. Others have joined with their Academic Health Center’s clinical scientist educational efforts funded by an institutional Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA).

To assist those college and schools of pharmacy with that are planning such programs, a number of pharmacy academicians agree it is time to convene a summit to discuss the present and future development of graduate programs in experimental pharmacotherapeutics and related clinical/translational sciences.
