Position Yourself for Success in the New Year

For more than a decade, the Academic Leadership Fellows Program has helped create top leaders in academic pharmacy and higher education. Submit an application by Monday, Mar. 20 to gain the knowledge, skills and network to foster personal and professional growth in the new year. As a fellow you will: explore historical perspectives of leadership; learn about conflict and the road to resolution; examine current issues in higher education and more.

INfluence 2017: Early-bird Registration Ends Feb. 1

Time is running out to join your colleagues at INfluence 2017, Feb. 25–28. Expert speakers will share their leadership insights and strategies for success in concurrent sessions, providing you with more opportunities for learning and networking. Register by Monday, Feb. 1 (to save up to $100).

REMINDERS

The 2017 AACP Walmart Scholars Program will provide $1,000 scholarships to up to 85 student-faculty pairs from AACP member institutions to attend Pharmacy Education 2017 in Nashville, July 15-19. Application materials are due by 5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, Feb. 13. For questions, contact walmartscholars@aacp.org.

The Council of Sections is now accepting educational and scientific research poster abstracts for Pharmacy Education 2017, July 15–19 in Nashville, Tenn. All abstracts must be submitted h by 11:59 p.m. PST on Feb. 15, 2017. The username and password for the programming submission site is the same as your AACP username and password. You may only submit up to two (2) abstracts for review. Contact Kirsten Block with any questions.

Early-bird registration for the next Interprofessional Faculty Development Institute closes Tuesday, Feb. 28. Faculty across the health disciplines will explore how to embed interprofessional education content into their curriculum, May 3–5, in Washington, D.C. For questions, contact IPEC Associate Director Shelley McKearney.

Members are invited to submit topics PDF  for the three, one-hour roundtable discussion sessions during Pharmacy Education 2017 by Wednesday, Mar 1, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

The new Emerging Teaching Scholar Award seeks to honor faculty who are engaged in and/or supporting scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Nominees must demonstrate:

  • evidence of teaching and learning excellence;
  • proof of efforts that impact the activity of teaching, and resulting learning, in a scholarly fashion; and
  • excellence and contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning that are disseminated through pharmacy education literature.
  • Nominations must be made by completing the online submission form and are due by Friday, Mar. 3, at 11:59 p.m. PT.

APTR

The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research and the CDC are pleased to announce the availability of funds to develop a series of interprofessional problem-based case studies in population health, for public health and clinical health professions students. Applications are due Friday, Jan. 20.

 

PCORI

The Patient-centered Outcomes Research Institute is launching a new research funding application system. To participate in one of three training sessions, visit the PCORI Web site.

 

USPHS

The U.S. Public Health Service is seeking student nominations PDF  for the 2017 USPHS Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Award, for projects that advance the aims of Healthy People 2020. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 24.
