For more than a decade, the Academic Leadership Fellows Program has helped create top leaders in academic pharmacy and higher education. Submit an application by Monday, March 20 to gain the knowledge, skills and network to foster personal and professional growth in the new year. As a fellow you will: explore historical perspectives of leadership; learn about conflict and the road to resolution; examine current issues in higher education and more.

Deadline Approaching: INfluence 2017 Continuing Education Credits

The deadline for completing activity evaluations to receive CE credits from INfluence 2017 is Tuesday, March 28. Attendees can access the Continuing Education Administration program Learning Express CE, and with their AACP e-mail and password, log in or create an account. Select each session attended from the list of INterim Meeting sessions offering CE credit and with the Access Code provided during the session, complete the evaluation form. Please direct inquiries to cpd@aacp.org.

Project Update: Pharmacist Demand Indicator

The Pharmacy Workforce Center project formerly known as the Aggregate Demand Index has transitioned to the Pharmacist Demand Indicator (PDI), reporting perceptions of the demand for pharmacists among a panel of individuals that participate in the hiring of pharmacists on a direct and regular basis. REMINDERS

AACP is seeking brand ambassadors—enthusiastic proponents of pharmacy and pharmacy education—from at least 100 member institutions to kick off a new campaign raising awareness and understanding of the many ways in which pharmacists help people live healthier lives. Brand ambassadors will engage with wider audiences – their communities, civic organizations, media outlets, etc. – to share stories of how pharmacists are truly helping people live healthier, better lives.

AACP member institutions are called to submit school poster abstracts for the Pharmacy Education 2017 School Poster Session by Wednesday, March, 29, at 11:59 p.m. PT. The theme for this year is “Assessing Student Achievement of CAPE Domain 4.” Details for the school poster abstract criteria PDF  are available on the AACP Web site. Due to space constraints, each institution may submit one abstract on a first-come, first-served basis. CEO deans must authorize the abstract's inclusion by signing and returning a verification form PDF  by e-mail to Marion Powell. Additionally, for any questions, please contact Marion Powell.

Steven A. Scott, AACP president-elect, is seeking volunteers to serve on AACP standing, awards selection and other committees. During his presidential year, Dr. Scott will be focusing AACP's efforts on our learners, including emphasis on students and faculty development. He will also utilize committees to identify optimal ways to engage individuals in the implementation of the AACP 2016–2019 Strategic Plan. Help select outstanding award recipients, guide policy development, or serve on a variety of administrative committees (e.g., Finance, Audit). Time commitments PDF  for each committee may vary.

If you are interested in serving on an AACP Committee during the 2017–2018 academic year, please submit your request by 11:59 p.m. PT on Wednesday, April 5. Please contact Melinda Colón if you have any questions.

AACP is currently seeking nominations for the following leadership positions:

  • Council of Faculties Chair-elect
    This leadership position entails a three‐year commitment (chair‐elect, chair, immediate past chair) with responsibilities described in the COF Administrative Board Responsibilities PDF  summary. Nominations and supporting materials should be emailed to Todd Sorensen by Wednesday, March 15.
  • Council of Deans Chair-elect, Secretary and Administrative Board Representative
    The Council of Deans is currently seeking nominations for chair-elect, secretary and administrative board representative by Friday, March 17. For questions, please contact Bob Blouin.
  • President-elect PDF 
    This year, we seek nominees for President-elect from active AACP members who do not hold the title of dean, associate dean, assistant dean or equivalent administrative title. Interested candidates should submit a letter of intent (not exceeding two pages) and curriculum vitae to Marion Powell by Friday, March 31, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Pharmacy Times’ pharmacy school partnership program, encompassing 92 university partners, gives student pharmacists access to print and digital subscriptions, student recognition programs, networking events, and resume building opportunities to contribute in its nationally-recognized publication. PhRMA Foundation

The PhRMA Foundation recently launched the Value Assessment Initiative, offering funding opportunities to advance approaches to assessing the value of medicines and healthcare services. Letters of intent are due in the coming weeks.

 

BPS

The Board of Pharmacy Specialties is seeking nominations for its new Warren Weaver/Richard Penna Award, recognizing outstanding voluntary contributions to the advancement of BPS board certification of pharmacists. Nomination materials are due Monday, May 1.

BPS is also seeking pharmacists to serve on its cardiology, geriatric, and infectious diseases specialty councils. A total of 27 positions are open for consideration, with nomination materials due Monday, May 1.

 

INSIGHT Into Diversity

The Board of INSIGHT Into Diversity is seeking nominations for its Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award, recognizing colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applications are due Thursday, June 15.

 

HDA

The Healthcare Distribution Alliance Research Foundation recently updated two presentations for use by AACP members, on moving medication from manufacturer to customer: Understanding Pharmaceutical Distribution, intended for manufacturers, distributors and pharmacy presenters; and Understanding Specialty Distribution, intended to be used to “on-board” new personnel.
