Call for ACPE Board of Directors Candidates

The AACP Board of Directors is seeking candidates for service on the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Board of Directors. A subcommittee of the AACP Board of Directors will make their recommendation to the full AACP Board at the November 2013 meeting. The appointee will observe both the January and June 2014 meetings of ACPE and will begin the six-year term in July 2014. Candidates should submit a single PDF of the requested materials to AACP no later than close of business Sept. 3, 2013. View the complete call for candidates by visiting the AACP Web site. 

Congratulations to the Medication Adherence Challenge Winners

AACP and the National Consumers League announced the winners of the second annual Script Your Future Medication Adherence Team Challenge. The competition called on students to develop creative ideas for raising awareness about medication adherence as a critical public health issue. This year’s awardees are: St. Louis College of Pharmacy, the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy, the University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, Touro University California College of Pharmacy , and The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. To learn more, visit the AACP Web site.

Annual Meeting Early-Bird Registration Ends May 31

Save up to $100 on entry to this year’s Annual Meeting, Pharmacy Education 2013, when you register by Friday, May 31. This outstanding event, conveniently located in Chicago, is your best opportunity to explore cutting-edge topics with experts and colleagues from around the country. LAST CHANCE: Submit 2013 Annual Meeting Announcements

1. Teachers of the Year
AACP recognizes outstanding faculty at regular and associate member colleges and schools of pharmacy. The 2013 Teachers of the Year are selected by their institutions and submitted to AACP by their deans. Honorees will be listed in the 2013 Annual Meeting closing banquet program, and those in attendance will be recognized during the banquet and invited to a luncheon. CEO deans must use the online form to submit the names of nominated individual faculty members.

2. In Memoriam
During the first session of the House of Delegates, AACP will announce the names of our colleagues in the Academy who have passed away since July 2012. Please submit information—including photos, if available—for the In Memoriam announcement. All photos must be in .jpg or .tiff formats with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and maximum image size of 5 MB. 

3. Changes in Dean Positions
AACP collects changes in all dean positions (CEO, associate, assistant, interim, etc.). CEO dean updates are announced at the first session of the House of Delegates. All other individuals with new dean responsibilities, including associate and assistant deans, will be acknowledged during the Council of Deans meeting.  

All submissions are due Wednesday, May 29, at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Please submit one form per teacher, In Memoriam and dean change. Submissions for Teachers of the Year received after this time will not be printed in the banquet program. Contact: Melinda D. Colón at 703-739-2330 ext. 1012.

Latest Profile of Pharmacy Students Now Available

AACP members can now access the Fall 2012 Profile of Pharmacy Students by visiting the AACP Web site. The digital publication contains data on applications to first professional degree programs. It also reports on student enrollment and degrees conferred in professional and graduate degree programs at U.S. colleges and schools of pharmacy with accredited professional degree programs. Purchase the print publication through AACP’s online store.

UPDATED: Explore Research Funding Opportunities

AACP’s Research Funding Opportunities page provides links for members to directly search for funding opportunities and deadlines in chosen research fields. These include federal agencies, non-federal research associations and foundations, and a section of additional funding opportunities that may not be broadly distributed. These additional grants will be updated periodically.
