2017 AACP Election Guide Now Available

Get to know the candidates, learn about their professional background, and read statements by the president-elect nominees in the 2017 AACP Election Guide. Please take a moment to review your member profile and confirm membership to Councils and Sections to ensure your ballot will be accurate.

On Nov. 1, you’ll receive an e-mail directing you to the virtual polling place. Use your AACP web site username and password to log in. Polls open Nov. 1 and close Dec. 1, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Get Ready to Be INspired at the INterim Meeting

The 2018 INterim Meeting, Feb. 24–27 in Long Beach, Calif., will INspire attendees with innovative leadership development strategies and new tools to tackle critical issues facing the profession. You’ll return to your institution recharged and ready to INspire new leaders. Registration opens soon.

Also, don’t forget to submit a proposal for a 10-minute microsession at the 2018 INterim Meeting. Microsessions are an innovative way for meeting attendees to engage on different strategies and tactics that address important issues. Submissions are due Thursday, Nov. 9, at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Have an idea for a 30-minute mini- or 90-minute special session at Pharmacy Education 2018, the AACP Annual Meeting, July 21–25, in Boston? Proposals are due by Tues., Oct. 31, at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Spotlight Career Accomplishments with an AACP Award

Are you, or someone you know, a change pioneer, outstanding educator or notable innovator? Nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Robert K. Chalmers Distinguished Pharmacy Educator Award, Paul R. Dawson Award for Excellence in Patient Care Research and Volwiler Research Achievement Award are due Wednesday, Dec. 6, by 11:59 p.m. PT.

Recognize Exemplary Scholarly Teaching

The Distinguished Teaching Scholar Award recognizes pharmacy faculty who are exemplary in the areas of scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. PT on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

New AJPE Now Available

Issue 7 of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education is now available. Explore mentorship, the pharmacists’ role in LGBT health, educational gaming and more.

The AACP Master Preceptor Recognition Program seeks to nationally recognize preceptors for their commitment to excellence in experiential education and professional practice. Applications are due Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. EST.

The Know Your Dose campaign is providing a free toolkit for healthcare providers to help continue current positive trends in acetaminophen safe use and awareness on social media. The campaign also offers free educational materials like brochures, posters, and more for events or pharmacies.

INSIGHT Into Diversity

INSIGHT Into Diversity recently awarded the 2017 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award to 24 health professions schools, including The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. The award recognizes those schools demonstrating an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion across their campuses.

National Obesity Care Week begins this Sunday, Oct. 29, through Nov. 4. Using #NOCW2017, join AACP in the social media discussion to help advance an evidence-based understanding of obesity and widespread access to respectful, comprehensive and appropriate care.
