Description:

This process was developed in 2014 using a consensus-based approach led by national pharmacy associations working under the direction of the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JJCP). The Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process is compromised of 5 elements and is intended to be used for a wide variety of patient care services as authorized under the pharmacists’ scope of practice and delivered in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. This webinar will describe the consistent approach that a pharmacist takes to provide patient care services. 

Target Audience:

This webinar is designed for all pharmacists and pharmacy educators.

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1.    Identify the purpose of Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process for the pharmacy profession and pharmacy education
2.     Execute the elements of the Pharmacist’s Patient Care Process
3.    Test strategies to implement the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process into the curriculum, including experiential education.

The Pharmacists' Patient Care Process (PPCP) Webinar (UAN: 0581-0000-19-017-L04-P and 0581-0000-19-017-H04-P) is designed as a knowledge-based CPE activity and is approved for 0.50 hour of continuing pharmacy education credit (0.050 CEU). To obtain CPE credit for the live webinar, pharmacists must attend the webinar on April 16, 2019, register, complete and submit the CE session evaluation for the webinar by accessing the online AACP Continuing Education Administration software program, Learning Express CE. The deadline to complete the evaluation to obtain CPE credit for the live webinar is May 16, 2019.

Pharmacists who wish to complete the webinar as a home study CE, must register, view the webinar in its entirety, complete a post-assessment and evaluation via Learning Express CE before the CE expiration date of April 16, 2022.  A passing score of 80% or higher on the post-assessment is required to obtain CPE credit.

Instructions for Claiming CPE Credit for the Live Webinar:

Please go to Learning Express CE (LECE). Click the "Pharmacists' Patient Care Process (PPCP)" link under the Live CPD Activity tab and click “Register Now”.  Login to your Learning Express CE account if you are a registered user. If you are a new user, please create your account utilizing your AACP email and password. (Be sure to include your correct NABP e-Profile ID and birthdate in MM/DD format in your Learning Express CE profile. Verify that your NABP e-Profile ID and birthdate are correctly entered into your Learning Express CE profile and correspond with your NABP record. Failure to ensure this information is identical in both programs will jeopardize your earning CE credits.) Confirm your selection and click “Register”. When you are ready, complete and submit the evaluation. Upon successful completion of the evaluation, LECE will transmit the CPE credit information to the regulatory bodies at NABP and ACPE. Pharmacists should log in to their NABP e-profile to access information about their completed CPE and to print a valid statement of credit if needed. Access to the evaluation in Learning Express CE will be denied after May 16, 2019.

Instructions for Claiming CPE Credit for Recorded Webinar:

Please go to the Learning Express CE (LECE) site and click the “Distance” tab.  Select the "Pharmacists' Patient Care Process (PPCP)" link and click the “Purchase Now” button. Login to LECE if you are a registered user or create your account if you are a new user. Verify that your NABP e-Profile ID and birthdate are correctly entered in your LECE profile and correspond with your NABP record. Confirm your selection and enter the promotional code in the “Coupon” box. (AACP members should go to AACP Connect to obtain the promotional code). Click the “Register” button to apply the code. If you are a non-member, please enter your payment details and click the Register button. After you have successfully registered for the program, you will be able to view the recorded webinar. In order to obtain CPE credit, you must view the webinar in its entirety, complete the post-assessment and evaluation. Note, you will be able to retake the assessment if you do not achieve a score of 80% or higher. Pharmacists must complete all the required components by April 16, 2022 in order to obtain credit. CPE credit information will be transmitted to NABP and ACPE. Pharmacists should log in to their NABP e-profile to access information about their completed CPE and to print a valid statement of credit if needed. 

Hardware/Software Requirments:

The webinar series is being conducted through the GoToWebinar Platform. Access to GoToWebinar is necessary to participate in the live version of the Webinar. Additionally, participants will need a working internet connection, (a web browser such Firefox or Chrome is required for the live version, Internet Explorer V11 is acceptable for the recorded version) speakers/headphones for audio capability, and Adobe Reader to open select pdf files. This series comes at no charge to AACP Members (Live or Recorded). Non-Members will be charged a nominal fee of $10 for access to the recorded webinar(s) and its associated continuing education (CE) credit(s).
