Hosted by the Pharmacogenomics SIG

Pharmacists and genetic counselors have complimentary skill sets that support the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics. In this webinar, two pharmacist /genetic counselor pairs will provide an overview of their collaborative pharmacogenomics clinic and patient care models, including their roles, lessons learned, and best practices. Another pharmacy faculty member will share how her pharmacogenomics course incorporates the role of genetic counselors. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session with the speakers.

Objectives:

  1. Describe current practice models involving pharmacists and genetic counselors in educating patients on genetics and pharmacogenomics.
  2. Differentiate between the roles of the pharmacist and genetic counselor with respect to integrating pharmacogenomics into clinical practice.
  3. Identify ways to incorporate the role of genetic counselors into pharmacy education.
