2024 AACP Admissions Workshop Call for Proposals

AACP Article

Please join us for the 2024 AACP Admissions Workshop: Pharmacy Admissions Revolution!

The evolution of pharmacy admissions over the last decade has resulted in new enrollment and student progression challenges. A revolution is needed to understand these challenges and to radically transform the turmoil into an environment of more stable enrollments and better support for student success.

We welcome all administrators, faculty, and staff who play a role in recruitment, admissions, retention, and student affairs of professional or graduate degree programs students to this 2-day event. Workshop sessions highlight novel strategies for recruiting partnerships both internally and externally, strategies for engaging students during the admissions process, and assessing students for success by which the Academy can collectively overcome the challenges and promote a revolution.

The Workshop will precede the 2024 Annual Meeting. Additional details about programming, WebAdMIT training, and registration will be available by spring 2024.

Don't Let These Concerns Stand in Your Way! Submit Today!

  • No or Limited Outcomes Data: While we strongly encourage you to share any available outcomes data, we recognize that not all activities will directly correlate with applications, enrollment, success, or retention. Please share your innovative ways to engage, assess, and support prospective students at every level, regardless of whether the effect of those efforts on the institution or individuals is yet known.
  • Short Session Time: We recognize that you may have a great idea or activity related to a particular topic, but only need a few minutes to share it. The session proposal form allows you to identify what session length may best suit your content. Proposed sessions ranging from 15-45 minutes are welcome!

Session Categories - "The Revolution"

  • Recruiting From Within. Presentations will focus on strategies to recruit from within your own institutions (e.g., undergraduate programs, other health science programs) with an emphasis on strategies for working within your institutions to increase interest in pharmacy programs. These may include programs such as Liaison’s InterCAS Program.
  • Partnering with External Stakeholders. Presentations will focus on strategies for reinvigorating a passion for the profession of pharmacy with external partners. (e.g., community chains, industry, hospitals).
  • Redefining Student Engagement Throughout the Admissions Process. Presentations will focus on fostering engagement after offers are made but prior to matriculation. These may include mindful mentoring practices, focusing on belonging even before students begin their program, and engagement with faculty to decrease summer melt.
  • Assessing Applicants and Supporting Students’ Needs. Presentations will focus on techniques used to assess applicant preparedness and support identified needs given the changes in our admissions assessments and student populations.
