The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), American Pharmacists Association (APhA), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), and American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) released a joint statement on the violence in Minnesota:
We join the American Nurses Association in mourning the death of Alex Pretti, a registered nurse, in Minneapolis on Jan. 24, 2026. We extend our condolences to Mr. Pretti’s loved ones, colleagues, and the community at large.
The Oath of the Pharmacist commits us to regard the welfare of humanity, relieve suffering, and uphold respect for all individuals as a core human right. We join other healthcare professionals in calling for an end to violence in our communities.
We also believe that hospitals, pharmacies, colleges and schools of pharmacy, and all healthcare environments exist to promote healing and health, and therefore must remain free from violence and fear.
