Rethinking the Pace of Productivity in Pharmacy Academia

June 23, 2025
1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. ET

Hosted by the Women in Academia SIG

Are you overwhelmed by the barrage of demands on your time? Do you feel tension between meeting expectations and pursuing fulfillment? In this age of “doing more with less,” it is time to rethink the pace of academic work within pharmacy education. Using the three principles from Cal Newport’s book Slow Productivity– Do Fewer Things, Work at a Natural Pace, and Obsess Over Quality– attendees will be challenged to think of practical ways to slow down their productivity while still meeting (or exceeding!) their work responsibilities.

Objectives:

  • List the three principles of Slow Productivity.
  • Compare and contrast one’s current approach to work with the Slow approach.
  • Identify at least one approach to adopt to move towards a Slow approach.
