Section
Sections represent academic disciplines or large units in within colleges and schools of pharmacy.
- Membership
- Membership rosters are maintained by AACP staff. AACP members may join up to two sections.
- Creation
- Applications for new Sections are not being accepted at this time.
- Continuance
- Automatically dissolved if the section is inactive for three consecutive years.
- Funding
- Each Section will be granted a budget (determined yearly by the BOD and AACP Leadership) to use towards their special projects and annual meeting costs.
- AACP Programming at the Annual Meeting
- Sections may sponsor up to two programs. However, each program must undergo review and be accepted by the Annual Meeting Program Committee.
- Elected Officers
- Chair, Chair-elect, Immediate Past Chair and Secretary of Knowledge Management. Elections are held each year in November.
- Subgroups
- Committees and/or Task Forces are convened by elected Section leadership.
- Council/Cabinet Representation
- The Council of Sections (COS) is composed of the administrative officers (chair, chair-elect, immediate past chair) of all academic Sections. It is led by the COS Administrative Board (chair, chair-elect, immediate past chair, and secretary of knowledge management). The primary focus of the Council is to represent the collective interests of the sections to the Association and its Board of Directors (BOD).

Special Interest Group (SIG)
SIGs represent interests and/or responsibilities that cut across the academic disciplines within colleges or schools of pharmacy.
- Membership
- Membership rosters are maintained by AACP staff. Members may select up to two primary SIGs and an unlimited number of secondary/informational SIGs.
- Designation of a primary SIG enables the member to run for the SIG elected office and to vote for SIG elected officers.
- Creation
- Applications for new SIGs are not being accepted at this time.
- Continuance
- Each SIG is evaluated for engagement based on the Creation and Dissolution Guidelines.
- Funding
- Each SIG will be granted a budget (determined yearly by the BOD and AACP Leadership) to use towards their special projects and annual meeting costs.
