Intersection of Trauma and Substance Use

This webinar will explore the bidirectional interplay of trauma and substance use, along with practical implications for pharmacists practicing across a variety of healthcare settings. Recognizing triggers and stressors that exacerbate trauma symptoms is essential to providing high-quality care to individuals navigating addiction and mental health challenges. Together we will discuss how trauma-informed approaches can be used to create safe and supportive environments within substance use treatment and mental health interventions.

Target Audience

This webinar is designed for pharmacists, pharmacist educators, and pharmacists working in direct patient care areas.

Webinar Objectives

  • Define the relationship between trauma, substance use, and mental health challenges.
  • Identify triggers and stressors as potential sources of retraumatization within substance use treatment settings.
