Tell Me Why: Simulation Activities to Enhance Students’ Ability to Verbally Justify Medication Recommendations

March 10, 2026
1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. ET

Hosted by the Laboratory Instructors SIG

In Fall 2023, two new simulation activities were introduced to help pharmacy students practice verbally justifying medication recommendations using professional medical terminology. These activities included a high-pressure provider simulation and a dedicated verbal component added to existing patient case studies, both of which were evaluated through rubrics and student surveys. The presentation will detail the logistics of these exercises, share feedback from participants, and outline future plans for enhancing student readiness for clinical rotations.

Objectives:

  • Describe two simulation activities that require students to justify medication recommendations
  • Discuss student feedback on the simulated activities and plans for the future
