Presented by the Women Faculty SIG
Pharmacy faculty and administrators play many roles and possess unique skills as teachers, practitioners, scholars, and committee members. However, promoting these skills and experience is an area many faculty shy away from, especially in service. It is essential to be able to advocate and promote the value and contribution of these services and expertise to improve faculty well-being and career advancement. This webinar will discuss the importance of advocacy for oneself and others, challenges for doing so, and strategies for successful advocacy and sponsorship in academia.
Target Audience
This webinar is designed for pharmacists and pharmacy educators.
Webinar Objectives
- Define self-advocacy, mentorship, and sponsorship as a professional in academia.
- Discuss the importance and benefits of self-advocacy and sponsorship of others.
- Describe the unique challenges for self-advocacy in women and underrepresented minorities.
- List examples of successful strategies that can be implemented for self-advocacy at any professional level or title.
- Develop a plan to incorporate self-advocacy or sponsorship and promote activities as part of your role at your institution.
