What is this program about?

The Mid-Career Recharge program is for all faculty and staff of colleges of pharmacy that identify as "mid-career" or early "senior-career".  The goal of the program is to have participants develop a plan to thrive in the next stage of their career and leave feeling rejuvenated, refocused, and recharged.

The program is tailored to individual needs and offers programming for participants to reflect on their career, provides peer-mentoring and networking opportunities, professional coaching, and content about skills needed to achieve career vitality.

Who should attend?

Any faculty or staff member from Schools/Colleges of Pharmacy in the United States that identify as a “mid-career” or “early senior” faculty member.  This is broadly defined as someone that has at least 7 years of experience and is not within 7 years of retirement typically at an associate or full professor rank.  Additionally, staff members that identify as “mid-career” are welcome.

  • Needing the time, space, and support to invest in self-reflection to grow or maintain your career vitality
  • Promoted to associate professor
  • Promoted to full professor
  • Considering a career transition
  • In the role of associate professor for several years and have not been promoted
  • Experiencing feelings of overwhelm or burnout
  • Feeling stuck, bored, or uninspired
What is the benefit of coaching and what is included in this program?

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as "partnering with clients in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential".

Three Group Coaching Sessions (in-person retreat and two online)

Facilitated by a professional coach, these meetings will start with a brief discussion. Then each participant is guaranteed “airtime” to describe a current challenge or discuss/reflect on a topic of their choice. Then each participant in the group (including the coach) has the opportunity to share insights, ask questions, and offer recommendations.

Two 1:1 Coaching Session (in-person retreat and one online)

Attendees will have the option of scheduling a 30-minute appointment with a professional  coach to discuss a career challenge, goals, skills, and their overall career vitality plan. 

*During the program or after the program there will be opportunities for add-on coaching packages (not required)

What is the program duration and time and travel commitment?

The longitudinal program runs over 12 months from June 2024 to June 2025.

There is a 3.5 day in-person retreat that requires travel to Kansas City, MO on June 2-5, 2024.

A virtual 2 day Crucial Conversations training program January 9-10, 2025 from 10-5 EST online.

The remaining sessions occur about once monthly for about 1-2 hours and are online.

How does the nomination process work?

Participants must be nominated by CEO Dean or Dept. Chair - limit 2 participant/school. There is no selection criteria, application packet or letters needed.  Just a simple form should be completed.  By submitting a name you are not guaranteed a spot.  We will only accept the first 45 that apply and you will be sent an email with a link to officially register for the program and to secure your spot within 7-10 days.

Nominations are due Friday, March 15, 2024.

This is on a first-come, first serve basis and there is an anticipated high demand so get your nomination in ASAP!  

What is the registration fee?

The registration fee is $1499 (AACP members) and $1699 (non-AACP members) for the 12-month longitudinal program.  Travel-related expenses to the 3.5 day In-Person Retreat are not included in the registration fee.
