This session will provide an overview and strategies for conducting effective survey research through survey development techniques suitable for novice and seasoned researchers. Tips and strategies for approaching qualitative data collection and research methods will be shared with an emphasis on useful practices and avoiding pitfalls inherent to survey development. 

Objectives

  1. Review survey-related terms.
  2. Describe useful practices in survey design to help mitigate common pitfalls
    • Example 1: Design surveys aligned with your research questions
    • Example 2: Apply strategies to create succinct instruments
  3. Integrate scientific rigor and methodology into your work
  4. Identify one action step that can help translate these elements into your research practices
