Combating Compassion Fatigue in SUDs Treatment Providers and Caregivers

Hosted by the Substance Use Disorder SIG

Caring for individuals with substance use disorders can cause compassion fatigue whether you are the individual's caregiver or healthcare provider. This webinar will explain what compassion fatigue looks like and provide tools and a plan for how to combat it.

  1. Define compassion fatigue for the healthcare professional and family member/caregiver.
  2. Recognize the differences between enabling and providing support to the individual with a SUD.
  3. Identify tools for combating compassion fatigue.
  4. Create a compassion fatigue combat plan for oneself or someone else.
