The Bridging Pharmacy Education and Practice Summit was the first major initiative of the AACP Transformation Center that was held simultaneously at six campus locations regionally across the U.S on June 2–3, 2022.

Intent on growing the next generation of pharmacists to provide care to rural communities, some schools are focused on creative approaches to building the pipeline. Being a pharmacist often means fulfilling duties that aren’t traditionally part of the job description. Nowhere is that more evident than in rural areas, where healthcare resources can be scarce and the pharmacist may be the sole access point for patients.

Pharmacy practice and science faculty interested in learning about or applying implementation science to advance their practice or education-based research or scholarship are encouraged to attend this interactive, 90-minute virtual session on Thursday, November 3. The session will present implementation science frameworks, theories and models in the context of pharmacy research, using presentation and case discussions to introduce key concepts and engage participants in active learning centered on the design of implementation

It is my great pleasure to introduce this issue of Academic Pharmacy Now, my first as CEO of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. I have spent the past several months learning about AACP, meeting our leaders and members and getting to know our amazing staff.

This session introduces an evidence-informed model examining impact and the "people, processes, products" framework as a method for describing the impact of educational scholarship.
