AACP Condemns Violence Against the Asian-American and Pacific Islander Community

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic we have witnessed a dramatic escalation of anti-Asian racism in the United States. Indeed, during the past year more than 3,500 Asian Americans have been assaulted verbally or physically. The recent murders in Atlanta are a horrific reminder of the toll of hatred and violence in our society. In light of this reality, AACP reaffirms our stand against racism and our commitment to foster a diverse, inclusive community.

Can I hold multiple acceptances from pharmacy schools in the CAG before March 1?

Yes, you can accept multiple acceptances (offers of admission) before March 1, regardless of a pharmacy school’s CAG status.

Am I allowed to hold multiple acceptances for pharmacy schools that are not participating in the CAG?

Yes, you are allowed to hold multiple acceptances from non-CAG pharmacy schools at any time. While non-CAG schools do not abide by the CAG’s March 1 deadline, you should still notify them directly, as soon as you’ve decided where you will enroll in the fall.

What should I do if I’m holding multiple acceptance after March 1?

Contact participating CAG schools by March 1 to accept or reject their offers of admission, or to request more time to make a decision. All CAG schools expect applicants who are holding multiple acceptances to make decisions quickly after March 1. Pharmacy schools may reach out to you or choose to revoke your acceptance at after March 1, if you don’t communicate with them in a timely manner. If you are still waiting to hear from other schools or need more time to make a decision, contact the schools directly and let them know, so they can consider how best to assist you. If you pay a deposit to hold your seat at one school and later decide to enroll elsewhere, you will lose your deposit to the first school.  While non-CAG schools do not abide by the March 1 deadline, you should still notify them directly, once you’ve made a decision.

I accepted an offer from a CAG school. Can I still hold multiple acceptances to non-CAG schools after March 1?

No. Applicants who have accepted an offer of admission to a CAG school should not hold multiple acceptances after March 1, regardless of whether they are from other CAG schools or non-CAG schools.

  • If you are holding multiple acceptances after March 1 and need more time to make an informed decision, contact the CAG school(s) directly about your situation, so they can consider how best to assist you.
  • If you are holding only one acceptance to a CAG school after March 1 and still waiting to hear from other schools (CAG or non-CAG), then no action should be needed at this point. Once you receive all of the remaining decisions, promptly select your pharmacy school of choice. Before you accept a new offer, you should withdraw your application from the original CAG school. As a result, you may lose your deposit.
I have accepted an offer of admission from a CAG school, but am on the wait list at another school. Does this situation violate the CAG?

No, this situation does not violate the CAG. It is okay to remain on a school's wait list after March 1 even if you have accepted an offer of admission from another CAG school. If you are moved from a school's wait list and decide you want to accept their offer of admission, you must first contact the original school to rescind your acceptance.

What role does AACP play in the CAG?

The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) provides schools with the opportunity to voluntarily participate in the Cooperative Admissions Guidelines (CAG). AACP cannot provide applicants with any additional information regarding school-specific CAG questions or assist with CAG extension requests. Please reach out to schools directly if you need more time to make a decision.
