Professional Development

There are several professional development events that AACP offers to members throughout the year.  They occur in a variety of formats such as in-person or virtual and are in institute or workshop formats.

  • Mid-Career Recharge
     June 2025 thru June 2026 Hybrid (in person retreat and online)
    • Develop a plan to thrive in the next stage of your career and leave feeling rejuvenated, refocused, and recharged.
  • SURGE Program
    Ongoing quarterly Online Synchronous
    • Quarterly virtual meetings for Associate Deans of Research and Grad Ed, Program Directors, and other leaders to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities. In-person meeting at Interim Meeting 2026.
  • Academic Leadership Fellows Program (ALFP)
    September 8-12, 2025, November 2-6, 2025, February 13-17, 2026, July 18-21, 2026 Hybrid (in-person and online)
    • Develop and support leaders in the Academy that contribute to the advancement of pharmacy education, higher education, and the pharmacy profession.
  • Medical Billing Workshop
    January 22, 2026 Online Synchronous
    • The How to Teach Medical Billing Basics: A Hands-On Workshop will prepare pharmacy educators to teach the basics of medical billing to pharmacy students as part of the PharmD curriculum.
  • Experiential Education Institute
    April 15-17, 2026 Online Synchronous
    • An Institute for all faculty, staff, and administrators responsible for optimizing experiential education.  This Institute will cover topics in the core dimensions of students, preceptors, and office practices of experiential education.
  • Community Pharmacy Transformation Badge (Educators Badge) Program
    Ongoing Online On Demand (AACP Learn)
    • This program aims to provide a fun, contemporary way to connect community pharmacy practice leaders and educators, ultimately leading to recognition of educators with proven competencies in community-based pharmacy practice transformation.
  • CLEAR Leadership Certificate
    Ongoing Online On Demand (AACP Learn)
    • Certificate for excellence in academic pharmacy.  
  • Educator & Preceptor Certificate: Choose Your Own Adventure:  A Reflective Journey in Personal and Professional Development
    Ongoing Online On Demand (AACP Learn)
    • This program focuses on assisting participants in exploring elements of their continuing professional and personal development--seeking first to develop the individual, then allowing this progress to influence learners, team members, and communities. The program is comprised of four sections:  Introduction to the Curriculum (learning about hiking), Approaches to Development (learning how to hike), Opportunities for Development (taking guided hikes), and Application (evaluating your hikes and preparing for future hikes).
  • SOTL Certificate: Soaring into SoTL: Learning the Basics of Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
    Ongoing Online On Demand (AACP Learn)
    • Learning the Basics of Engaging in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is a self-paced certificate program designed to provide participants with the basic skills essential to conducting high-quality scholarship in the realm of teaching and learning. It is aimed at individuals who consider themselves complete novices or who may need additional guidance in designing, conducting, and analyzing data within a SoTL research study.

    • Microcredential to enhance active learning techniques in pharmacy education.
  • Microlearning Series

  • Pharmacy Foundations:  A Non-Pharmacist's Guide to Pharmacy Education - NOW AVAILABLE
    Ongoing Online On Demand (AACP Learn)
    • This is a comprehensive curriculum designed for faculty, staff, and administrators working in a College/School of Pharmacy who have not been trained as pharmacists. The curriculum provides an essential overview of the profession, including fundamentals of pharmacy education, accreditation considerations, and support structures for pharmacy students and programs.

AACP also offers a Continuing Education (CE) Webinar Series to assist faculty members in ensuring that pharmacy school graduates are prepared for the needs of patients and their caregivers in the current and future healthcare landscape. Previously recorded CE webinars are available to earn CPE Credit.
